Description
This sideboard is beautifully made with superb joinery detail by Fyne Ladye Furniture, Oxford, England and by British designer Richard Hornby. The design is simple and elegant, featuring Richard Hornby’s trademark reed style drawers. The four drawers sit in-between two doors, which open to reveal adjustable shelves. The top drawer is also felt-lined for cutlery. This sideboard is made entirely from solid African Afromosia.
The recessed handle and the reeded drawers were a typical feature of Richard Hornby’s designs . The cabinet making of Fyne Ladye Furniture was top notch , and the use of solid wood was unusual for anything other than oak at the time , so their pieces would never have been cheap and were aimed at a small discerning market .
